Skills4Living joins the Greater Manchester Baccalaureate (MBacc) Year 2

We are proud to announce that Skills4Living is now officially part of the Greater Manchester Baccalaureate (MBacc) Year 2 delivery, launching in 2025/26.

The MBacc, led by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, is a bold initiative giving young people the skills, pathways and experiences they need to succeed in education, work and life. Year 2 builds on the foundations of its first year and introduces exciting new partnerships across all seven gateways.

As part of this expansion thousands of young people aged 16-25 will access Skills4Living, our UNESCO-partnered education programme designed to equip learners with essential skills for good health, wellbeing and future success.

Why this matters

Becoming part of MBacc Year 2 is a major step forward for Skills4Living. It means:

  • Embedding essential life skills into a recognised, city-region wide education framework
  • Strengthening links between young people’s wellbeing and Greater Manchester’s economic future
  • Ensuring that more learners benefit from practical, preventative education that supports confidence, resilience and readiness for adulthood

This recognition reflects the strong progress made during our 2025 pilot and highlights the vital role of life skills in preparing young people for the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Looking ahead

By joining MBacc Year 2, Skills4Living will reach more young people than ever before. Together with college, training provider, university and community partners, we’re helping to build a system where every learner leaves education with both qualifications and the confidence to thrive in life.
